With time and effort, my understanding of the essential evolves from hypothetical to experiential.
At the hypothetical level, I suspect the essential is there, but I am unable to visualize it. I will catch glimpses of it that reinforce my conviction that it is there, but I cannot easily confirm its presence in my life without complex mental acrobatics.
My goal is to “catch” these glimpses and prolong them. As I experience the essential more often, I will also begin to experience “essential detachment”. This is the sensation of the second place being “within” the larger first place.
